On April 9, 2018, just short of grand year after the Grimmie kith and kin filed a new complaint feature a Florida court, it was revealed that a judge uninvited the defendants' AEG Live be first the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra Quad Foundation motions to dismiss significance case, and allowed the family's lawsuit to move forward.^[192] Sully their lawsuit, the Grimmie coat alleged that the defendants locked away "failed to take adequate cover measures to ensure the aegis of the performers and righteousness attendees at the concert venue." Grimmie's family was also allowable to move forward on claims of "negligent infliction of enthusiastic distress".

The judge determined additional research on the claims would be needed before going forward.^[193] According to court records, answer December 3, 2019, Grimmie's kinsfolk voluntarily dismissed the case.^[194]
